The primary factor in determining the lens thickness on plus power lenses is the minimum edge thickness. The minimum edge thickness is measured on edged lens at the point where the lens edge is the thinnest. Just like in minus lenses, there is no simple, plain answer.<\/p>\n<p>In the table below see general guidelines for minimum edge thickness on low power plus lenses. I strongly recommend looking into eyeglass frames that are designed specially for babies, toddlers or small children like Miraflex, Solo Bambini, Banz, Tomato, Hello Kitty, Liberty Sport, etc. Those frames are safe, durable, come in small sizes and many attractive styles.<\/li>\n<li>Frame shape &#8211; the larger the lens&#8217; diagonal measurement the thicker the lens<\/li>\n<li>Frame type &#8211; rimless or semi-rimless frames will increase the lens thickness on plus power lenses; not the best choice for your baby or child eyeglasses.<\/li>\n<li>Pupil distance &#8211; for babies and children this usually ranges from 41 to 55 mm, for adults 54-68 mm.
